Everyone values safety and security, but due to systemic inequality, safety is not equally available to all in the United States. Safety requires access to health care, nutritious food, clean air and water, and peace in the home and the community. The matter of what constitutes safety is at the heart of the ideological gun battle that divides usually along partisan lines.
